Land Value Covenants

Land Value Covenants are an idea floated by Robin Smith and the late Adrian Wrigley about twenty years ago, as an alternative to LVT as a means of land value capture for public revenue. The Campaign has no view on the concept but it might be worth exploring. The underlying principle of Land Value Covenants is that they would be a voluntary arrangement. Robin Smith would be happy to answer questions on the subject and can be contacted via the website at the link below. Personally, I would be very happy if I could have a certificate of perpetual exemption from all taxes if I could sign over the land rental income from my real estate, but I am not sure if that is the proposal. If it is, it would probably be a popular thing. There is also the matter of the hidden tax which is inflation ie taxation of savings.
