The Chancellor and his shadows
It is a sign of me getting old or are the Chancellor and his shadows all deeply unimpressive?
I was watching their performance last night. Alistair Darling seems an ideal successor to Basil Fawlty. Vince Cable seems trustworthy. He is the kind of man who would not try to sell you a ready-to-wear suit without making sure it fitted nicely. George Osborne, posh voice notwithstanding, has the air of the kind of barrow boy who puts the good fruit at the front and serves the mouldy stuff from the back of the pile on his stall. I would not buy a bag of strawberries from him.
