Do LVT and Citizens’ Income belong together?

Citizens’ Income is an unconditional benefit payable to all resident citizens. Could an LVT raise enough revenue to pay for it? If one considers the island model, under an LVT scheme all the rent is collected and put in a common fund. The islanders then have the choice as to whether to share it out equally between them or buy some Type 45 destroyers, and a few jet fighters. The citizens of Visby on the Baltic island of Gotland no doubt wished they had spent more on defence when the king of Denmark invaded in 1361 and threatened to burn down the town if they did not hand over the gold and silver he demanded.

However, arguing over this matter is like people buying a sweepstake ticket for the Grand National and then squabbling over what they are going to do with the winnings.
